The new crown jewel of Uptown Charlotte is without doubt the gleaming 150,000 square-foot tribute to the North Carolina-born sport of stock car racing.
Three dozen racing vehicles from all types of automotive racing are on display in this tribute to the sport’s greatest drivers. Be sure to taken in the art gallery, which features the work of Sam Bass and Garry Hill.
A nine-foot tall statue of Dale Earnhardt is the centerpiece of this memorial in the hometown of the seven-time NASCAR champion who died in a last-lap crash of the 2001 Daytona 500. The Cannon Village Visitor Center nearby is home to the Dale Earnhardt Tribute Center.
